Maitreya, which means “the friendly-one” in Sanskrit and is the name he received from his spiritual master when he was a small boy. As a Yoga student and practitioner, Maitreya has been trying to live up to that name for over 20 years. Now that he is a proud father of two children, he hopes to be an excellent friend to his son, Kabīr and his daughter Kāśī Devī as well.
Maitreya also teaches about yoga history and philosophy, Tantra, Sanskrit and other related subjects to yogīs and yoginīs in yoga studios in Europe and Mexico. He is also currently part of the core faculty at a wonderful project called Living Sanskrit with a fantastic team of teachers.
Besides his area of expertise as a scholar of the cultures and philosophies of India, Maitreya is interested in photography, visual arts, travelling and vegan/vegetarian cooking.
He is very much looking forward to sharing with you whatever he has come to learn about Yoga and the Indian traditions in this amazing journey of years of intense study both as a scholar and as a practitioner.
