This diagram can help you see the connection between the breath, the diaphragm, the psoas muscle, and the movement of the hip joint and leg.
The diaphragm is the 'dome-like' muscular structure that sits at the bottom of the ribcage. The movement of the diaphragm is involuntary and it only activated through the breath.
With the Inhalation, it contracts as the lungs expand to receive the breath.
With the Exhalation, it expands to help push the air out of the lungs
This is a meditative practice where our focus turns inwardly to our deepest self and soothing to the nervous system. It gives us a valuable opportunity to become aware of the cohesiveness between the breath, deep-core support, and movement.
