Unraveling the Heart: The Spine and Backbend Poses
The right effort consists of actions that are driven by clarity of mind, purpose, diligence, and whole-heartedness. Unlocking true freedom in any asana, means that even though the body opens, expands and extends, our mind turns within the body. It is when our attention turns within, to the breath, to those actions that make us feel secure and grounded, that we can rise above our limitations. Backbends are both challenging and inspiring poses. We will look at the basic anatomy of the spine; the relationship between spine, shoulders, and hips; and explore ways to safely break free from common fears, blocks and limitations.
